HBOT and COVID-19

Recent survey date indicates that at least 20% of people who had coronavirus and recovered, are still affected by long-haul symptoms. That refers to ongoing symptoms that can follow infection for weeks, months or longer. Recent research is indicating that hyperbaric oxygen treatments are showing promise for the treatment of long covid issues. Some of the most common persistent symptoms related to long covid are cognition issues, fatigue, sleep problems and more. Many of these issues are thought to be caused by continuous inflammatory response.

A recent study showed statistically significant improvement in a number of long Covid symptoms for people who underwent HBOT treatment. Another study in Israel split a group of patients in half that had cognitive symptoms of long Covid. Half received hyperbaric oxygen treatment, which is 100% oxygen under pressure. The other half received just regular air. At the end of the study, the patients that received hyperbaric oxygen treatments showed marked improvements in cognition, energy levels, quality of sleep and mood.
