Step 1 Start With Your Consult
The very first step to take to your journey of healing is to contact our team and set up a consult.
What happens when I come in for a consult?
Of course, each patient's experience will be somewhat different, but in general, the following events will occur:
You will be seen by the hyperbaric physician who will perform a history and physical. He or she will determine if hyperbaric treatments are appropriate for you, order any necessary tests, and discuss the treatment options. You will speak with a respiratory therapist who will discuss in detail the sequence of events during a dive, discuss the scheduling of treatments, and review applicable risks and safety precautions.
Step 2 Treatment
On the day of your treatment, you will come in and be seen briefly by your HBO provider prior to your treatment.
One of our Certified Hyperbaric Technologist (CHT) will assist you into the the comfortable bed that slides in and out of the hyperbaric chamber and will ensure you are relaxed, prepared and comfortable throughout your entire treatment. The CHT will be present beside your chamber the entire treatment and you will be able to see and communicate with the CHT at all times.
Our chambers are made of state-of-the-art clear acrylic, so you can always see outside of the chamber. During HBOT, you simply recline and breathe the 100% pure oxygen inside the chamber, as the pressure is gradually increased to treatment pressure per established treatment protocols. Each HBOT session may last from 60 to 120 minutes, depending on the condition you are being treated for.
While you are undergoing treatment, you can just relax, watch your chamber mounted TV, listen to your music, or you may even take a nap, if you like while you breath hte 100% pure oxygen inside the chamber, as the pressure is gradually increased to treatment pressure per established treatment protocols.
Did you know?
You may feel a slight pressure in your ears during the compression and decompression of the chamber, much like you would in an airplane as it takes off. This sensation normally resolves itself quickly, if it does not resolve quickly, just inform your CHT as they are trained to resolve this matter with minimal discomfort. If you are unable to resolve the ear pressure issue, you will be quickly and safely returned to ambient pressure. The CHT will confer with the HBO provider concerning any patient concerns. Once the ear pressure is equalized, your body will adjust to your treatment very well.
Step 3 Meet with your HBOT provider
After your treatment is completed, you will be able to meet with your HBOT provider to go over that treatment evolution, address any additional concerns you may have had during your treatment.
How many treatments will I need, and how often?
The number and frequency of treatments needed varies with the specific condition that is being treated. For many conditions, one treatment a day (Monday through Friday) is given for a total of 20 to 30 treatments, usually a total of four to six weeks.
